Vanness Wu - V

I know this is japanese but Vanness isn't someone you can just pass by. So this'll be the second post with his japanese music. He obviously neglects the chinese market! But I'm happy someone's finally uploaded it (what took them so long O.o) and we can enjoy it. His last album was great let's see how about this one.

The album starts with nice and upbeat Break Out! which is perfect for an opening. Mission keeps the dance tune. Why starts in English and then Japanese comes. This song is... very Japanese, lol. But that's a compliment and the song is very pretty. Ending is very nice. If you haven't heard his single No More Tears yet you can hear it here. I like the song very much so I'm happy it's on this album. Soldier was a single too (and was horribly hard to find!). It's completely different than any other song on the album. It's spported by fast guitars. Same goes to Better (that it was on a single). It's a beautiful ballad sung entirely in English. The next track is actually a remix of Shine On. Sometimes it happens that a remix is better than the original song but in this case I prefer the original. And that's mostly coz the remix here's lost the strings in the background that ver a very important addiction. Well, they made a dance version, that's all. But it repeats itself almost all the time the same rhythm. Unfortunatelly, we're heading to the end and the last song is Love Will Come which took my breath away. Coz I wasn't expecting it. I think you can label it as a electro-rock track. Amazing. I think it's whole in English but I'm not sure since there are parts where it's hard to vary words. It stays on replay in my player.

Shawn Yue - Not a Star N.A.S

Frankly, I had no idea Shawn can sing. For me he was just an actor. An awesome looking actor to be precise. When I saw this album I was like "OMGD! Shawn!" and I had to check it out. Especially that it's title kinda makes me laugh xD
The album starts with good rocking. And I mean rocking, not some silly pop-rockish sounds. He really rocks it! An absolute awesomeness. This is when I knew it's gonna be good. But with the second track it changes to some upbeat, dance song. Not that it bothers me, no way since it's a great and entertaining song. Dance continues with 喂！喂 ! So far so good. On the other hand 其實我們很熟 is an acoustic ballad which completely took my heart which happens really rare. And another ballad 默背妳的心碎, this time more classical, you know, with piano and all that stuff. Can be, it's kinda pretty to tell the truth. 男人愛麻煩 is a duet with, here a surprise since it's not a girl, with Hanjin! The song is a pretty acoustic ballad. To keep you awake Shawn gives us a dance track with some rapping. I dunno why it reminds me of Stanley Huang... But it's a very interesting track that Stanley Huang' would like also I guess ;D 你說我太帥 is, I guess, my second fave here. Hard to describe. It's a very happy rock song that makes me think of summertime and, you know, lots of fun. Fantastic song. 有骨氣 is much slower, but not boring. The kind of "ballad" I like. Cuz it's not really a ballad but anyway it's a pretty one. And for the end a remix of second song.
So, all in all, it's a very good album and I enjoyed it a lot!

SIGMA - SIGMA

If you wonder what makes SIGMA different from other chinese boybands and you can't find the answer then you're probably right. Coz there's nothing - they're even under the same company as Fahrenheit. Or maybe there's one thing - if some of you know Judy Chou, then you can be happy hearing that he's one of the three members. And if you're thinking that they're little kpopish then you're right again. They worked with some Koreans on this album as I've heard. But anyway they're just another boyband yet it doesn't mean you can let them go just like that. You won't regret. Why would you? And as for me - I liked it. And 我這邊 is my fave.

G.E.M Tang - My Secret

The album is up. And YesAsia is fricking me out, coz they've sent me an email with a change of shipping's date twice already. First it was supposed to be on 30th of October and today I received another mail saying that the date has changed to 12th of November.
I really like to listen to an album when I get my own copy. It's such a bigger joy, but the thought of waiting another 3 weeks to get my copy makes me wanna listen to it now.
That's the reason why I won't write a review. But you can be sure that the whole album will be a great success and hit, so don't hesitate to listen (AND BUY! - especially the special limited version - it's soo cool!).

--
Edit: After all I decided to give it a listen. One Button is something new in GEM's style. But it's a great song. The next track is Good To Be Bad, the first single. I love this song so much. Get Over You is the second single. A beautiful ballad. GEM likes to mix styles, experiment with new things, likes to surprise us. Like with the next song 美好的舊時光. I dunno how to describe it. Very nice and pleasurable song, something like a faster ballad. You can describe 寂寞星球的小玫瑰 somehow similar. I was afraid The Voice Within will turn out to be Christina Aguilera's cover, but fortunately it's not (not that I have anything against CA, I do adore her, but sometimes you just shouldn't cover such artists - a fail is granted). Very pretty song, I like it. But along with 我的秘密 I start to worry. Why so many slower songs, where's the upbeat? Apart from that 我的秘密 has a beautiful melody and chorus. There're some guitars in the back and a piano. 末日 is a ballad this time. Pay attention to the background music. Wonderful! But I really want the usual GEM! The faster GEM. Twinkle II - an English/Mandarin song. "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" - remember that? It's like her version. I absolutely love it. Kay, my dream came true. Say it Loud is faster, finally. Not dance, but pop. Great chorus.
Summarizing - it's a very good album. Well, it's not a new thing - everything that GEM's doing is fantastic. But I must say one thing - too many slow songs. Even though I love every single one of them, there should be more songs like One Button or Good To Be Bad. But at least GEM's isn't monothematic. I'm glad.

Edit2: A little encourage for you to actually buy the album. I got my copy today and it was huge! You can actually see the whole thing on GEM's youtube channel.
There's also some weird but really cool thing called webcam-v. Meaning you can make your own Video to The Voice Within. You just have to get a kind of key or marker - you can get it along with the original copy or simply print it out on her web page. It's really cool. I've spent 2 hours playing with it ;D Right, you need a webcam, of course. You can see a demo on her web page or yt channel as well.
About the limited edition - there's only 8000 of those, so hurry up to get yours! It's big so make sure you've got a place for it (coz I don't - my whole shelf is filled up with some crazy limited editions of various shapes ;D).
And maybe this will encourage you even more - there's also an option with a poster and also - you can get it on YesAsia 12% off.
Support GEM, she's really worked hard ;)

Jolin Tsai - Myself

I missed her. Her good times actually coz her last album wasn't that good. I missed Agent J times. And when they said that on her new album there will be lots of upbeat songs I was so happy. Let's see if there's something that Jolin still haven't given us yet.
First she gives us a strong dance songs. Very upbeat, something new. Listening to 美人計 gets Benassi Bros' Satisfaction on my mind. The rhythm is completely different but the guy saying something about satisfaction just affects like that :D There're lots of interludes but they're very short and you don't even realize when they're playing and the next song is already on~ Oh and about an album full of faster songs - they didn't lie! I counted like.. 2 ballads? Isn't it strange? But that made me really like this album. Especially the slower songs. It looks like a long tracklist but I didn't even realize when it had finished already. So too short I guess ;P

Leehom Wang - The 18 Martial Arts

Don't expect any objective opinion coz Leehom is my all time favorite chinese actor/singer/producer/whatever. I love the guy.
I've waited for this album~! I remember when a year ago I played his Heart.Beat album and saw his collaboration with Jane Zhang I thought I'm in heaven. When there were rumors of his new album coming up this year I was in that heaven again.
What I love about Leehom is that this guy is so amazing, he can do every genre of music and feels comfortable with it. And he does it great. His every album is different. You won't see any connections there. For example Heart.Beat was a fabulous mix of ballads and rock songs. And now? Is there something Leehom haven't tried yet?
Actually... there is! Have you ever seen Leehom doin' dance? He did rock, pop, rnb but never dance. Not the dance we experience nowadays. When my player played 杜 U ♥ Me I thought that some boyband is playing and my player got something wrong. But it didn't. 杜 U ♥ Me is fricking amazing! I was completely shocked coz I'd never ever expect that of Leehom. And there is something about his songs. The truth is that you listen to all those dance songs now but in five years it will be not cool anymore and you probably won't play it again. And there goes Leehom and you will play his albums from ten years back with absolute pleasure. For me his absolute timeless hits are amazing Ai Ni Deng Yu Ai Zi Ji and Julia. I'm sure I will play this song in few years with the same pleasure I feel now. But before that we can listen to short Dragon Dance which is nothing more but a weird intro. The titular song - 十八般武艺. As expected of Leehom classical chinese instruments come in. His chinked-out style hits again. Oh in case you don't know yet - I love Leehom's ballads so it's only natural I love 你不知道的事. Only after five songs I already know that every song is different. 伯牙绝弦 is completely different than those four before. It's hard to describe, you gotta check it yourself, but it sure is good! And new. Leehom shows his different side on this album. I love that! If I remember correct 柴米油盐酱醋茶 was the first song that leaked out. I don't know, I'm still not sure about this song. When I've heard it for the first time I didn't feel anything at all. No excitement. I gotta give it a hundred more plays. I'm sure there is something about this song but I don't know what yet. Okay, 美* is so... k-popish lol ;D But very mei (chin. "beautiful"). 需要人陪 is a very slow ballad. And another ballad with a very beautiful piano and guitar - 天涯海角. And wonderful 你不知道的事 (宋晓青版本). It's such a beautiful song! And closing the album - 自己人. Very positive and pretty song.

Thank you Leehom, you always make my day. Or night.

*Note: 美 is a part of my chinese name (美麗) lol :D Just a random fact that made me happy XD

Edit: I can't stop listening to 杜 U ♥ Me. I think it's the best song on this album but it's also one of the best songs Leehom's ever made.
Leehom, you're a genius. I know you know that.

Jocie Kwok - I Am Jocie

Be ready for some weird music kinda 90.s feeling xD And little kpop feeling too. Album features some kpop covers, not kpop covers and her own music as well.

和我來電 is Davichi's 8282 cover. Nice job! Really like it. Next thing is a ballad. I came thru it, no surprises, classic chinese ballad. 什麼態度 is definitely a cover, but I can't remember of what song. Some Russian thing maybe? XD I have no idea, I only know that stupid songs like that stick in your head forever and you can't forget it. But in Chinese it sounds so much better XD Wonder Girls' Tell Me is 討厭. I just love Wonder Girls' original Chinese version. Her cover is good too, but she should practice her pronunciation of "tell me" . But 放了愛 is a beautiful ballad. It's very rare for me to like a ballad, but this one is pretty good. I'm sure 倒數幸福 is another cover, but don't know of which song too. Gosh, I do like it XD It's so embarrassing, but reminds me of my childhood, then music like that was so cool xD Same goes to 當美女. It's fun to hear that kinds of songs these days ;P And another ballad titled 代我愛他 and it's so so. Not really my thing. But 許願樹 has a nice chorus I must say.
This album is kinda back to the past XD And I like that stuff XD

Edit: OMG, my mum just gave me a tip and while I was playing 什麼態度 she went to my room and said "oh, chinese version of kanikuly?" XD So yes, Code Red's Kanikuly cover XD I knew it was Russian! XD

Eddie Peng - Can't Not Love EP

Have u seen his first MV? It can really stick in your brain, his "get down, down, down oehoh" is really addictive. The whole song was amazing. And my fave Shu Qi acts there too. But really what's the secret of this song? Maybe coz it's catchy, but let's face the truth. Even though Eddie has a nice voice that sounds nice, he just can't sing. I guess just voice is not enough. It's not only my opinion. But srlsy I don't care and I liked this EP. So that was about 非愛不可, the first track and the first single. You can clearly see that he can't sing on the second track 就是我愛你. But the song itself is good, somewhat catchy ballad ;P 變色龍 is really nice and optimistic song. But 不想這樣 is really good. I guess this guy can always make you happy. It's another faster song, guitar supported. Great chorus. And 轉角的夏天 is a ballad. Not bad really.

Gillian Chung - Everyone Bounce EP

This EP came along with Twins Best Hits. Same title, same release day. After Charlene's released her own EP now Gillian can't be any worse, right? But this EP surprised me... And also the fact that title really express its style.
心多 first thing is a duet with MC Jin and reminds me very much of Kate Tsui, same style as her last EP. And it's kinda nice, plesureable. MC Jin has a very good flow and voice. Reminds me of Joe Flizzow (my fave Malaysian rapper) a lot. Next guy she's singing with is William Chan in 什麼是潮流. Here goes really dance style like you hear in clubs. Not really my cup of tea - some upbeat, dance, disco, close to techno whatever-it-is thing. 生活在他方 is a ballad. Weird after that dance song. And definitely my favorite song here - 天后站出發. It's a ballad with soft guitar in the back. And 橙路 - yet another ballad, but nice. 就在現場 (國語) - Mandarin version of that duet with William. Lol, sounds so much nicer in Mandarin, but still... not my thing. Could be worse ^^'

Huang Xiaoming - MOOPA

Hottie's coming back! ;D Newest album form Huang Xiaoming entitled MOOPA which is a shortcut from Move Party. Lol, I'd never guess.
The MV for title track is great ^O^ So is the song I really like that upbeat rhythm. As usual, album has lots of ballads and the next song is one - 風聲, but hey, I like it! His voice fits slower as well faster songs, that makes him even more fine. What I like about next ballad is its folk feeling. You can hear China's spirit in it. Not Alan's kind off feeling but nice too. Fourth song is 我的快樂不收費 which is one more dance track. Pretty addictive. It has soft beat so you don't have this weird feeling that it's another pseudo-techno thing like kpop likes to have recently. Ok, I can't believe that I actually liked this filled with ballads album, but I did! I can't not to fall under 你說的對's charm. Especially with that guitar! Is he another guy who's taking my heart with ballads right after Leehom, Peter Ho and Eason Chan (and someone else I'm sure but don't remember now)? Good for him ;D Next thing is duet with Vicky Zhao. She has weird voice here and I get the feeling that she's a bit unnecessary here. But the song itself is really good. Okay, the only classic ballad is 你在我心上 and it's the only song that didn't melt my heart. But don't worry here comes 受不了 to make you dance again. I love it! It also has that soft and sexy beat. And that rap part! 黑貓與牛奶 is cute. I can't find any appropriate word to describe this song. It has some underground indie feeling! I'd never expect that coming on this guy's album. And finally the last track T_T Too bad, I'd like to listen even more and more! But the last track is a remix of MOOPA. Contains rapping part and also some beatbox in the beginning. I like it.
He should consider being a part time singer more often ^^
The only thing that annoys me is its price without any additional MVs! If I buy it, it'd better have some really good photobook filled with Xiaoming's sexy photos, coz I'm gonna be really mad! Srlsy, for this price you can buy collection edition of Show Luo's new album and you get several MVs and some bonuses... Ugh, and what to buy now? And I'm still waiting for my Jane Zhang to deliver. Takes too long, ugh (>.<)

Landy Wen - Dancing Queen

Is this wat you've been waiting for? Brand new Landy? She's all by herself!

Kay, who didn't get the allusion to G-Dragon? XD

Here's Landy's new album I've been waiting for.
廣角美女 right after a great intro is a song made for a Dancing Queen. I really hope the next MV will be for this song coz it's perfect for nice lightening effects, choreography and stuff like in D.I.S.C.O. 愛情沒有對錯 beautiful! Superb song that we can actually call a ballad. Can't stop listening. 我全都相信 is a classic cpop ballad but just listen to that beautiful guitar solo. Everything's Gonna Be All Right reminds me of Bob Marley :P But no, it's not a reggae song. It's just great! I didn't like 放開你的頭腦 in the beginning but after a few plays it really got into my mind. I like it. After that comes 不要太乖 which makes me smile. Think I'm gonna love it. And two last tracks are ballads. Since I don't like ballads of this type I won't comment.
I love her L.A.N.D.Y sound sign :P It's like in JYP's or Brave Brothers' songs.
It's highly recommended! Absolutely love the album.
Also the MV for D.I.S.C.O is out, don't forget to check it out by simply clicking on the blue-colored title on tracklist below!
