Ugh, the only thing I can say is sorry for my long absence - been busy and lots of thing happened, nothing interesting. But I'm still on time with chinese releases ^^ So here we go:
Modern Rock compilation is another one Sony gave us this year. And this one is special for me. Why? One simple reason - there's rock and there're lots of my fave artists like Leehom Wang, Alan Kuo, Yida, Deserts Chang, Evan Yo and even Jolin Tsai, Karen Mok or Rainie Yang. Sounds like the best compilation of the year? Indeed it is.
Honestly I don't know where to start. Maybe from the beggining XD The whole thing starts with Leehom's hit song - 搖滾怎麼了!!, a big hit a while ago. Next song is 愛死你. Not mentioned in the tracklist but it's Karen's collaboration with Alan Kuo. I love him and love her. Actually I'm a newborn fan of hers, but if it comes to Alan - he's my fave Taiwanese rocker for a long time. Seeing them in one song is something like a dream - and a song itself is wonderful, rockish and you can't stop listening once you start. 愛的黑狗兄 is Hung Jen's song. And I like the song a lot frankly speaking but what it has to do with rock besides one guitar solo moment? XD Nevermind, enjoy the song, it's great. Rainie~! I like Rainie Yang a lot. And I like when she does rocking songs. That fits her. Wake Up is a big hit form Alan Kuo. Didin't hear it yet? Do it now~! I still remember when I used to sit and just listen to this song hundred times on replay. Jolin's 說愛你 isn't really rockish, but who cares? Deserts... Och, Deserts Chang is my fave, fave, fave artists. Right after Joanna Wang and Leehom Wang I guess. She adds this compilation a little more indie feeling. And her song 討人厭的字 is the best. It's different, not like most of rock songs. I like to call her style coffeehouse music. It's simple, straight from her heart. But not everyone can like it. That's the trick. It's specific. And next song from Leehom - 感情是舞台. Oh, geez, I love that. Then goes Jolin's beautiful 倒帶 and let's stop by Alan Kuo again. 零 is a theme song for drama Mars. Haven't seen it and Alan starred there. Shame on me, really. But to the song - one of the best songs I've ever heard. No kidding. Can't say how much I love it. Karen Mok's 24 hrs - I'm addicted to this song. Kya~! Evan Yo! I was so happy when I saw his name there. 我回來了 is a song form his second (?) album. That guy can rock your world! And has such an innocent look :D
I already wrote so many good things about it but we're only in the halfway. Next cd.
Alan Kuo's opening this cd. Lots of this guy's songs here, right? That's coz he's a Taiwanese Rock Prince. For me. And Leehom's again. And again a song form his newest album - I think it's his best album he ever made. And that's one of my fave songs from that album, though I love the whole. Hung Jen's here again. With a rocky, fabulous song. I skipped some songs so this review wouldn't be that long. Let's go to Yida - uhm, this guy is so poor in these cds that his song until this were just... well.. not my fave. But there goes Set Me Free which is one of his greatest songs. Although I don't like French, the girl's voice there in the background - it sounds so sexy! And his Mandarin after. I'm in heaven, just set me free. And the last song. That's a surprise - Shin in collaboration with Dai Ai Ling. Her pure voice in contrast with hard rock music and Shin's voice. Perfect for closing up one of the best Sony's compilation they gave us this year (and they sure released a lot lately!).
